Are you paying for a second phone line just so you will have a separate fax line? Or do you wish you had a fax line but don't want to pay the $30 a month for the extra line? If so, you might want to consider using a call discriminator like the Comswitch pictured above. Your phone line is connected to the input jack and your phone and fax machine are connected to the output jacks. The switch identifies incoming calls and routes faxes to your fax machine and other calls to your telephone. Note that if you are using a dedicated fax line because you have a high volume of outgoing faxes, this switch will probably not be appropriate for your office. If you elect to acquire one and are able to discontinue a phone line as a result, the switch will pay for itself in less than 3 months!
