Battery Meter for Your Laptop

We have found a free gadget for your laptop that you might find very handy! It is a battery meter that is free, easy to download and install and is very simple to use, yet displays lots of helpful information about your laptop battery condition. When installed and running on your laptop, it will display an image similar to the blue battery displayed above. The image is animated, and it displays the percent remaining battery charge when running on battery power. It changes colors and shows remaining charge time when the laptop is plugged into A/C power and the battery is being charged. The icon is always on top of anything you open so you can easily monitor your battery condition while working, but it is small enough to not be in the way of most programs. And of course you can move it to any location on your desktop if necessary, or you can simply right click on it to make it disappear completely (until you reboot your computer or restart the program). Many laptops have a battery charge indicator built right into the battery itself, similar to the one pictured below:

On the Dell Vostro and Lattitude laptops, you can turn the laptop upside down and then press the battery image pictured above to determine either the current battery charge level or the overall battery degradation level. Green lights will illuminate to give you the results. See your operating manual for specific information.
